Looks like a centronics printer port socket?
Possibly parallel punch?

Greetings!
My friend has an old MAHO 900 Milling machine and it has weird communication port, so it would been cool if someone have schematics how to rewire that port to RS 232 if its possible.
Here are pictures of port:

You might want to remove the plug and see how many wires are attached as this looks like a plug that someone has added to connect a cable up to. I say this because the picture shows "slot" screws and most German made machines have "philips" screws. As Al stated it looks like a centronics printer port socket. A quick search shows that most of the unit models use RS232 (serial) communication , and the original plug may not have been as easy to find as the install replacement. If you have the wiring diagram or manual, maybe we can help further. If not, search for like model and ask owner for info.
What did we use in the "old days" for portable tape punch connections? Or am I the only one blessed with a Flexowriter. Some sort of alphabet soup like EIA TTY ESA ETC. LOL

That's a 24 way connector.
The centronics is a 36 way with same style shell.
