regrind or rebuild machine ways

My CNC knee mill is pretty worn out. I've searched the Zone and found a fair bit on rebuilding ballscrews. But I'm not finding anything on tuning up the worn out machine ways. The mill table is loose near the middle of travel and too tight at the ends of travel.

I'm thinking this would be a regrinding job. Anybody know of vendors to do this?

Karl

What type of ways? Dovetail? If so, have them scraped by somebody who knows how to properly scrape and align your machine.

Just sounds like typical wear.

Buy me a Beer?

Have you looked into Turcite or Moglice Way re-building material? A friend of mine has done quite a few machines for the company he works for.

Yes, dovetail ways. Do you know where/how to find such a person?

I read that's another method. I've also read enough to know this is more difficult than I want to take on. can't do everything. Shipping to Canada is impossible. Know anybody in the states?

You have to excuse my website, I'm trying to find someone to build a new one thats more professional any suggestions? I whipped this one up in my spare time.

I just had toshiba come in with the laser to get her levelled again. Guy said its within .0002 over 22 feet.

Best Regards

Karl, Look in the twin cities phone book "machine rebuilders" or "machine tool repair" etc.

There should be some in the western 'burbs or?

Karl,

Contact Richard King from Home Page he is in MN and can certainly point you in the right direction. I think King Precision Machine Rebuilders in Minneapolis is/was his family business.
