    DELTA VH3600 Z axis backlash

I have a DELTA VH3600 knee mill that has a lot of backlash in the Z axis. Can anyone tell where I can find drawings for the Z axis mechanism or how to eliminate the backlash? All help is appreciated.

    Some disassembly required.

The ball screw is attached to the quill by means of a connecting block. It is fastened on by two bolts. These bolts are in behind the ball bearing housing. You have to take apart the entire assembly to get at them. If these screws are loose or have developed slop you must retighten them. My connecting block is made out of brass so it developed some play. I am putting a couple of steel washers under the heads so as to help reduce some wear.
