Machine HELP Lagun with Centroid CNC4E Controller Info Wanted

OK, so I've got an opportunity to get a Lagun CNC Mill with a Centroid Controller Model CNC4E. I was wondering if anyone had any info, not specifics just general info.

First question they said it ran when it was taken out of another shop 8 years ago, but never hooked it up. INCLUDING Delivery they want $1000. Is this worth it?

Second it uses the knee as the Z axis, I'm used to the quill being the Z, does this work well in 3D milling?

Third, any info about the Centroid CNC4E controller would be great. Specifically, is it just a regular, albeit old, computer in the case hooked up to stepper drivers and so forth? If so could it EASILY be hooked up to a modern computer and use Mach3 as the control software?

If the old drivers can't be used can the stepper motors still be used with modern gecko drives?
