Anybody know what this is?

First off I hope I posted this in the right section. I found a older lathe via craigslist and was wondering if I could get some help on trying to figure out what it is. The seller knows absolutely nothing about it. Here are the picstures....I could pick it up at a pretty cheap price. Thanks for any input!!

Kinda looks like an old Hendey 12" to me. Especially if the casting (along the front under the carriage) reads "12 x 5", which it's hard to make out in the picture. You should find some plaques somewhere on the thing but yeah, looks like an old Hendey to me anyways.

Alright thank you! Do you think it would be worth around $1000?

I looked up Hendey on http://lathes.co.uk, looks like Cmailco is right. That or it is a copy.

Buy me a Beer?

I would try and get a close up of the ways sent to you if possible, the condition of which will be one of the biggest deciding factors.

Agreed on checking the ways. This is a Craigslisting, if so is it something local? Any knowledgeable machinists friends who might be able to take a look at it for you?

This could be a good lathe for 1k or it could end up being an expensive restoration project if you don't know the general condition of all the important stuff.

Its about an hour away, I have a good buddy from work that I had asked about it and after talking to him I am just going to pass on it. I am going to keep looking. Iv looked at the mini/bench top lathes a few times but they are just too small.

Im just looking for something I can play around with a home, I get alot of cnc mill time at work only have a few hours on the lathe.
