AH, I broke my worm gear learning this the hard way.
The nut and threads you see right behind the arrow for rotating is the end of a taper pin. You need to pull that out BEFORE turning on the worm gear.

I can't figure it out...we're trying to get it through a door...there seems to a bolt on the right side of the machine that we think is a worm gear, but the head acts as though it's locked into its current position. I can't find any other lever or pin that would hold it in place.
It looks like it's supposed to be able to rotate around the Y axis, as there's graduated marks for it (in fact, it's not at 0, so there's another reason to want to rotate it).
