Opinions on IH turnkey CNC

Curious as to what you guys think of this machine.

I'm looking to do some prototypes and small scale production. My main concerns are precision and repeatability, although I am new to machining, so I'm not even sure what other factors to look for just yet. For that reason I'll be waiting a few months before purchasing while I do my research.

I sent an email to them asking for specs on precision but haven't heard back from them yet.

Who are their competitors at a similar price point?

I know their is an IH section but I didn't post their for now because I'm trying to avoid bias.

Thanks,

Joe

Lately IH has been taking some heat because there are a few people that have been waiting for CNC conversion kits for months. Every now and then we do hear about someone getting a TurnKey-CNC in a matter of weeks though. They may just behind, but I think a lot of the fustration comes from not hearing from IH to at least say what the problem is.

Most people choose IH because of the travels, its a full size table on a benchtop. This really depends on what you plan on making though, if youll benefit from it.

Their direct competitors would probably be Syil, Novakon, and Tormach. I've read good things on all machines

This may help you, its a comparison chart produced by Novakon.

Thanks aucran.

Yea, I've been reading some posts in the IH forum and it doesn't look good. It seems like a good product from a bad company. Almost an oxymoron.

I'm just looking for the biggest machine I can afford, and this is the first product I have looked into so far.

Thanks for the list of competitors, that will help a lot.

Thanks,

Joe

That URL doesn't work. Looks like it was truncated.

Here is the correct link, sorry about that.

If I had it to do all over again, I would have gone with the Novakon. It sounds like a pretty good machine and a complete package.

I'm leaning towards the Mikini. IH would still be my first choice if the company didn't suck. The Mikini still concerns me because of the limited travel.

I would like to have a machine before the end of the year though, and I probably won't order for at least a couple of months.
