Cool First time router build? BLACK TOE 2'x4'?

Is the Blacktoe table from buildyourowncnc.com a good buy?

    http://buildyourcnc.com/blackToe2x4v40.aspx

The price is very appealing, and the product seems quality enough, but I'm turned off by the wood construction (wouldn't this warp with humidity?), etc.

I desperately (dare I say ) need a CNC router that is not a pitiful 8"x14" like you see on ebay. 18"x24" is my bare minimum, but the bigger the better.

I would love to build one myself as the parts seem to be fairly cheaper, but this seems time consuming and unreliable. I would really like to find a fairly priced CNC router with table space.

    Help!

I would not go for a wood CNC router because of problems with swelling, lengths changing and not being able to provide the proper rigidity.
IMHO the best aluminum based cnc router is provided by
www.finelineautomation.com. It is basically a 2x3 router that is in kit form, the # is FLA100
check them out. Nate is the owner and is a great guy to deal with. He can design a custom size also, if you need it.

I realize this thread is a couple of months old and you have probably found your table by now but I thought I would comment on the wood table issue.

I built a table similar to Patrick's (Blacktoe) pretty much by looking at his and designing my own. It is MDF and it is rock steady. the cutting surface is 5x9 and my total price was 1200.00 complete (that included a P4 all in one computer, and Mach3 software). I have a thread in the DIY wood router table section if you want to see more about it.
