Weiss USA? Need lathe parts....

I know that back in March or so there was a distributor change for Weiss USA. Every Weiss website I can find for the USA does not work. Any ideas if they are just having technical issues or did the new distributor decide to pull out of the market?

I picked up a Weiss Machine WM280V-F lathe on eBay which is new in the crate for $670 last night ($1600 street thru Weiss). I'm going to LA on Tuesday to pick up a new Acer E-Mill Knee Mill 3VS (Baldor Super-E motor with VFD), and am going to swing through Palmdale to the old Weiss distributor to pick up my lathe on the way home. I wanted to contact Weiss to buy a stand, steady rest, follow rest, live center, thread chasing dial, etc.

Does anyone have any ideas or am I just not finding a working site on Google? I have actually been trying their sites for the past week while I watched the lathe on eBay.

Try Quality Machine Tools:

http://machinetoolonline.com/

Their 11" Precision Matthews lathes are close siblings of the Weiss machines, the latter (depending on model) being a metric version of the former. The machines would definitely not share leadscrew, cross-screw, change-gear set, graduated dials, etc. but they may well share other components.

Matt at QMT has generally exhibited a friendly attitude about helping people with machines he didn't necessarily sell.

But it may prove difficult to determine in advance which PM parts would fit which Weiss machines.

>>>i did get a machine out of him before he went away.

Wonder if that was a close call or not???

It's a shame that Weiss can't seem to establish a dealership in the US.

Do I recall correctly that there is a Weiss dealership in Canada?
