    Hermle Profibus Hardware Error

Hello, has anyone has this error on their 5-axis Hermle / Heidenhain machine?

    Profibus Hardware Error.

There amazingly does not seem to be anyway whatsoever to narrow down this issue.

I have checked all the communication lines to make sure the connections are tight and that the wires are not sitting near high voltage lines but it still errors.

It seems to error when the machine is just sitting at idle.

    thanks in advance
    g

Good start with the connections. I believe that the cables to the profibus run through a cable carrier. You may want to try and run a 'spare' cable from point A to point B without going through the carrier to see if the cable has worn in the carrier. You may also want to check the switches connected to the unit. You can check the I/O screen on the control. You can also look at the prox. switches themselves, they each have an indicator light on them that should be lit constantly while the switch is made. If it is only while sitting the switches that indicate the current position will be the ones you should be looking at.
