    Kolkmill

This topic is about a milling machine build from scratch.
i'm building with this machine allready for a while, but never set it online.
    so a long starting message

First of all it's no wood the machine panels!!

All panels have milled pins, and slots to make a tight fit, many M12 bolts and nuts are holding the panels together.

    - The machine slides are HiWin 15's,
    - all axis leadscrews
    - proximity switches for home sensing
    - Elte HF Spindle with ISO10 tools
    - Vacon HF VFO
    - USBCNC V4 interface
    - Advantronix board for tool change

    and many more nice things.

Allready started with assembly of the electronic cabinet

With 3 HP stepper drivers running at 75 Volt

    Some wiring

    Electronic cabinet outside.

Currently the machine is running but not everything is ready and working
here are some earlier movies of the machine

First testrun of the Elte HF Spindle, 1,1kW max 40.000 RPM

Indicator left up 5 Bar tool clamping
Indicator left down 5 Bar tool unclamping
Indicator right up 0,5 Bar bearing overpressure
Indicator right down 5 Bar taper cleaning
Used air valves are from SMC

    [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7VCHGJa5vY"]YouTube- Kolkmill ATC test[/nomedia]

    Slow testrun of the ATC

High speed testrun of the ATC

The last movie is the current state of the machine.
let me hear what you think about it

    That's a beautiful machine!

Can you explain more about the wood construction, and any other machine details?
Like pictures of the spindle and auto tool changer.

The Elte HF Spindle runs approx 40.000 RPM @ 633 Hz and has 1,1 kW power.
has a pneumatic booster for tool change gripper. some more details on the site of ELTE

Spindle gets driven by a Vacon Inverter, controlled true USBCNC

Also a water chiller is used on this spindle.

The Toolchanger is a home made changer.
all parts are milled out of some solid pieces of plastics.
    here some detail pictures

About the stucture of the frame i will take some pictures later on.
    the axis speeds are 7500mm....

    later some more details.....
