Stepper/Servo Motor Sizing for 12x24" Lathe Conversion

I have a Clausing 5900 Series 12"x24" lathe I am going to retrofit. Tried searching the net to see what size motors to use for this retrofit. Microkinetics is using a 1625 in oz for the Z and a 470 in oz for the X axis.
So I was figuring on going about that size.

I have a 28-0-28 545VA toroidal transformer which looks like it will give me about 78VDC. I plan on using Gecko Drives.

Was going to direct drive the ball screws.

Anyone care to shoot holes in my plans now before I start spending money? :-)

Are there any links to logs of similar conversions I could read up on?
    Thanks in advance
    Marty
