| Anyone had any problems with Helicoils? I had about 86 Helicoils i dropped into an aluminum plate yesterday and when i went to place the screws in the helicoils kept binding on me. I followed all procedures and everything. It was terrible I spent all day working this plate and at the end of the day It was shot. Had to scrap the $160 dollar plate. Also, ended up busting 3 taps trying to get the helicoils to work? Any Answers? Thanks,

| Was your helicoil tap in perfect condition? It is conceivable that if the tap was damaged and the resultant thread was malformed, that the helicoil would not seat correctly, thus reducing its minor diameter enough to cause interference on the fastener. Also, did you tap the hole deep enough so that you did not run the helicoil up onto the taper ramp formed at the bottom of the hole?
