    Routing Dibond composite

    Greetings!

Does anyone have any specific recommendations for routing 3mm dibond? Type of bit, speed, feedrate, etc?

Also, is it feasible to cut multiple copies by stacking the dibond material (assuming I can clamp them down ok) Or is this asking for trouble?

    Thanks!

I’ve been cutting 4mm Dibond with O-flute up spiral router bits (great material by the way!). As far as stack cutting, I’d say it all depends on how well you can secure the stack (i.e. locating holes that you can bolt through etc.) Or, something like Thermwood routers which have a roller hold-down that travels on either side of the bit. It’s pricey (& slippery) stuff to gamble with though.

Hi, i'm also trying to cut Dibond using a homemade CNC router. I'm trying to cut 6" square plaques but when i cut lettering areas ike the centre of 'O' come flying off. Any suggestions?

    Many Thanks, David

    I use a .125 4-flute end mill at 200-250IPM.

As for stacking, use a good double stick tape placed away from the tool path on each layer. The bundle will have to be held down mechanically with clamps.
