I am cutting a right of A36 steel apprx 37 OD 30 1/2 ID and 1 1/8 thick. We are using a Bullard 56" VTL. We are have troubles with two things. The first problem is with our jaws. We have a hydraulic jaw setup which squeezes the part into an egg shape. (only by several thousandths). We have started alignments manually now and it seems to help. But the major problem we cant seem to get rid of is our terrible surface finish. The part chatters so bad it leaves huge waves in the steel. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Matt |
