Normally I am offering machining parameters and solutions. I have came across a material I have never machined. I am looking for parameters, tools and recommendations for turning Stellite Alloy 12. From what I have read it is a cobalt based powdered material? Anyone have experience machining this material? I am also wondering if a low content CBN, might be a route to take? |

| I think you have the right idea with CBN although there is a remote possibility you'd get away with carbide. Stellite is harder and tougher than HSS as I understand it. I've never tried working it but I heard on another forum about someone machining it with carbide. |
