I am pondering making a laser engraver / cutter attachment for my CNC. Would this be usable in it's current state? I probably wouldn't run it anywhere near the 12w rating but it would be nice to have the extra oomph if needed.

There isn't enough information, but possibly.

You would need optics to collimate/focus the beam, and a controllable power supply.
