    New HX 3040 owner

Hi there, I'm new here. We just got hold of a Rabbit HX3040 laser cutter for our railway club. It was demonstrated before we bough it and it worked fine, however when we set it up at the club, the mirrors were all out so we spent a while aligning them. Now, when we try to cut something out, there is a lot of burnishing round the cut line. Also there is what looks like a blurred shadow image offset from the cut line. What would cause this? How do we go about setting this up properly? We are kinda novices at this sort of thing.

It sounds like your alignment isn't correct.

Have you checked that the beam enters the center of the final mirror / lens assembly at the maximum distance, center and minimum distance?

It sounds like the beam is slightly off and not being focused correctly into a single beam. You may also check the lens is clean and seated correctly as this could also produce the symptoms you describe.

Once adjusted you'll enjoy the machine.

    Zax.

    Hi, thanks for the reply.
I figured it might be the aim. When we first fired it up, it nearly burned a hole in the side of the machine! We spent a while tweaking it and managed to get it to the final mirror but I guess it still needs a bit of fine tuning.

I believe there is a DVD or video of setting up instructions for this machine, does anyone have a copy or is it available online?

It was posted on the forum just a week or 2 ago.... if I can remember where or find it I'll repost the link.

    Good luck,
