Rabbit with Laser Cut 5.1 manual?

I have a rabbit laser and am using laser cut 5.1 with corel draw. Is there any place that I can get a manual or some help with the laser cut software. I have lots of questions. Should I post them here or is there somewhere else to go?

    Thanks, Kim

    Hi Kim,

    Welcome to the forum.

I was going to attach a copy but the file is too big. You can download a copy from http://www.hxlaser.com/support/home.htm

You can post your questions here and I, as well as others will help you where we can.

But first I would recommend you read the manual, front to back and then read it again. Keep it close by for reference. Although the manual can be difficult to grasp, as you practice with your machine the explanations in the manual become clearer and you will start to pick things up.

Another tip, get yourself a note book and write down your speed, power and scan gap settings for everything you engrave or cut. On practice pieces put some text on along with your engraving so there is a permanent reference on your practice piece.

    Good Luck

    Dave.

When I click on the link that was provided, the SE Type Manual does not exist? Any ideas?

If anyone can help with a couple quick questions that would be great...

1- Can you save the power settings for the line colors? Everytime I pull up a new job, I have to reenter the settings. Anyway to save those?

2- I am using Coreldraw and the only way to get the laser to start cutting in the bottom left corner, is to put a page frame around the entire grid area. Is there a way I can have the default of the laser start cutting in the left bottom corner of the grid??

Let me know if you can help me with those questions.

Thanks so much, I appreciate any help you can give.

    Thanks, Kim

Personally, I don't operate the laser from within CorelDraw. I find importing the file to LaserCut gives me much more flexibility.

Once you have your design completed in coreldraw, save it as a .ai file.
Open LaserCut and import it. Set your power setting etc. You can use the layering facility to assign cut and engrave options for your design.
Once completed you can save as a project file .ecp (I think thats the file extension). LaserCut will save all the perameters you set for this project. If your work included both vectors and .bmp's, it will save them all toghether as a project file.
I would be a good idea to creates a seperate folder for each project.

A useful feature of LaserCut is the simulate. This provided a simulation of what the output will look like before you committ to start the work. It can save you wasting material if you overlooked something in your artwork.

In Lasercut you can also select where the origin will be. Either corner, Centre or the middle of any side if I remember correctly. I always use centre. Ther is alos a clip box feature. Set the power low and it will draw a line around the edge of your entire artwork. This helps position your material before you start.

    Hope this helps

    Dave.

Thanks for the manual and for the information that you have given me so far.

Unfortuately, I am working at a business and we are all learning to work this together. It was decided that the easiest way for us to operate our laser would be thru the corel, as we already have thousands of programs set up in corel, and in order for the laser operators to run these programs, an seperate illustrator file would have to be created and that was going to be much time, work, etc.

If anyone could help out with functions in corel, that would be great. Like I asked before, our main questions was how to get the line color to open at the same speed everytime, and also, how to get the laser to cut in the bottom left corner after it leaves the home position. One other question that I have, is how to select the cut sequence. it seems like it jumps all over the place when cutting and no matter what sequence I do in corel, it doesnt effect the cut sequence.

I read thru the manual and it is not very descriptive, so if anyone has any experience, please do share. I look forward to the responses.

    ~Kim

ps- Thanks Dave for your help!

    Smile lasercut and corel

    Hi all,

    Thank you Dave, for relply.
downloading problems I have when a file is bigger than usual ,and I was referring with that when I hit the Download button -program is Lasercut5.0- it freezes down.
the trick with the installation is that I only have a small dialog box opening when I'm installing lasercut, with yes or cancel options only, without options or anything else.the non-return valve is what i thinked about too,but I 'll use a valve from automobile it's making the same job.
Another question I have, how can I obtain good portrait engravings using lasercut?

    thank you,
    Regards

Also sometimes it's hard to get out the air bubbles around the cathodic tub, they delivered the machine with a pool pump.
So yes, I'm asking for your help...i'm really in a deep fog

    Thank you!
Not sure about your downloading problems without a bit more information to go on. How are you going about downloading to the machine, any messages etc.
The Corel plug in is selected from the dropdown box on the installation you used for Lasercut IIRC.
To get all the air bubbles out of the tube can sometimes be a pain, but they do need to come out. You may have to release the tube from the machine to tilt it sufficiently enough to get the bubbles out. Make sure the outlet end of the cooling water pipe is under the water or it will draw air back in again as soon as you turn your pump off. I installed a non-return valve on the end of mine just to make sure. This is the one I used.

i use lasercut 5.1 and until now it's ok even when i engraving potrait with size 85x50cm.

For good potrait engraving, i use 60 watt laser. setting speed 450,power 45,scangap 0.05
first i make grayscale picture using PS, set the dpi to 300. and size to your wanted.
if the picture is good, the go to next step. if not good try to adjust brightness, contras, etc.

After that you could make it as B/W on PS
or use Photoengraving software (more easy)
