    masking film

a friend showed me a type of tacky paper to put on the back of wood sheets to prevent smoke and burn marks from the laser. easy to peel off after cutting.

    It was probably 24" wide.

what is this kind of "masking paper" called and where do you buy it?

    thanks
    jv

It sounds like 'application tape' used to apply vinyl signage.

Check your local sign supply store, it's cheap and available in various widths - also in high and low tack. Make sure it's the paper stuff though as a lot of companies are moving to clear (PVC) for easier application.

You can find it at most places that sell vinal for sinage, it could also be called 'transfer sheets'
The ones that i get are usually 6" x 300' rolls and usually cost around 25$ -30$
