    Is there any way to clean PETG residue off Aluminum Honeycomb

    The title says it all, but I have gone through maybe 20 pcs in the past year of 2'x3' aluminum honeycomb because the PETG residue is so dirty and sticky that it actually clogs up the honeycomb within a week of heavy use. .

    Has anyone had any luck cleaning this crap off the honeycomb, otherwise I am in for another expensive order of new stuff very soon. It seems impervious to water, Spray Nine and a few other things

    Thanks

    I use DNA for most of my cleanup and when that doesn't work I'll try Simple Green - get the aviation stuff, it won't attack aluminum - and I have also had good luck with some of the citrus cleaners. You may have to clean it daily though, it may be too difficult to clean weekly.

    cleaning PETG off Al HoneyComb

    Gary;

    Thanks for the tip, but mine are far too dirty for a light cleaning. I have maybe 1/8" buildup on them now, maybe even more. I need something that can truly dissolve the goop, maybe something I can immerse the honeycomb in. A bath of some kind or maybe steam cleaning?

    Try picking up some Krud Kutter form the local Borg (Home Depot, Lowes, etc.). Comes in gallon containers, so you can put it in a shallow dish and let it soak overnight. I can't say if it works with PETG, but it certainly clears acrylic and wood residue/sap off in a heartbeat.
