    honeycomb table material?

I just got a rabbit laser machine from china. Got it up in a day and cut some parts. so far so good.

I want to replace the table it came with which is one of those metal vertical fin type tables. I want to replace it with a honeycomb board. Can I just use one of the standard honeycomb aluminum sheets that they sell on McMaster? Is there any reason for the table to have a special coating or something?

    thanks,
    b

They'll work just fine. Plain aluminum is what standard honeycombs are made of. CO2 laser doesn't do anything to it at all.

    Hi bgirit,
the honeycomb aluminum sheets you mentioned, what is the stock number or if you could post a link to the honeycomb aluminum sheets in McMaster-Carr?

    Thanks

its actually no good, the one from mcMaster. its far too flimsy. I havent been able to really look for a usable, stiff sheet of the stuff. If you find something, I'd like to know as well.

I did a bit of research on the net, most of them are manufacturer. Is hard to find a online store which can justpurchase off the shelf.

Which one did you get? They offer up to 1" thick, and when properly supported that stuff won't flex.
