    Researching Things

    Hi all,

I've been intrigued by the idea of laser engraving for a couple of years, and am researching the possibility of getting a machine. I've been looking over the Universal Lasers, and Epilog sites for info, but thought I'd get y'alls .02$ worth.

    Any ideas on starting out?

Anything to stay away from (or avoid doing) ?

In your opinion, whats a good machine for a beginner to start with?

Any features I really want (AKA the "GOT TO HAVES")

No doubt, this will be the first of many questions I'll have

    Thanks

DDaland , Hi , I"m Lew. I have been researching lasers also. Sure are a lot of them out there. I have no real knowledge on them yet, Sorry, but I am learning. I have asked several companyies to send me hard copy so I can set down and study them all at one time. Although the China model looks inviting , I'm worrysome about getting parts. So far I have info on Trotec,Universal, Epilog, and Xenetech. They all have nice features, and it is going to take some research. I will try to watch this forum and keep posted if I find any other info. Any one else having input would be welcome also. Thanks Lew

    Hey guys and welcome.
Have a look at the reply I just wrote in the linkmotion thread on what my setup is. It may answer a few questions for you.

What do you think of LinkMotion?

have fun working it all out.

If you have any questions about G Wieke Chinese machines, let me know. I just got one and so far am impressed. Plan on using it in a production environment, so we'll see how reliable it turns out to be.
