    Laser Engraver

Can you take a laser engraver and make into a laser CNC machine that actually cuts through stuff?

Most laser engravers that I've seen can cut thru thin stuff like paper, some plastics etc.

but if your asking about metals then probably not enough wattage.

sure you can but sometimes the cost is very prohibitive and modifications can be extensive and not worth it unless the unit is on the cheaper side..

you would need a new laser tube and power supply (the two most expensive parts).
    thanks

Different Watt can cut through different things.

    20W Thin Plastics

    50W thin Metals

100 W can make .010 deep marks in Metals

I just did a test with our 10W Ostling Brand Laser and it will serrate coated plastic, but will not cut completely through.

Our LG series engraving machine also can do cutting.
When you want to do the cuttting, you should adjust to low speed from the software, meanwhile adjust to the bigger power.
