Has somebody done photo on acrylic...

I have tryed a lot of combinations of how to engrave a photo on a cast acrylic with a small acces. So if somebody can help me on it will be nice... perfect.
I have a 80w laser CO2 and i've tryed with speed 825 and power 30 last and before that with smaller speed and powers.
And I've also tryed with grade engrave but thats not it. I want to see a picture.

    Thanks

    Hi, Goran ,

Making a bitmap picture for the photo is very important for photo laser engraving. Also if you are not good at that, there are some software can help you. I have a video post, among the videos there are some photo laser engraving videos. You can have a reference.

    Thank You Melody.
I didn't mentioned but I did it like that. I did a bitmap, and set everything like I've seen on some video on YouTube. But I have nothing similar to what I saw on the net. So if You can help me to improve the quality of the photo on acrylic will be nice.
So what should I do ???

    Thank You

    Hi, Goran,

First of all, you must make sure your laser beam is addjusted well. I remember Dave has a good post for that. You can also take reference of the maual video in my video post

I don't know your machine size, but for us and our machines,
machines bigger than 600X900mm, we set the speed and power for engraving as 600,20-30

    For smaller ones, 500,20-30.

And also you need to pay attention to the acc space:
For speed of 300, it should be -0.20 ~ -0.15
For speed of 600, it should be -0.30-~ -0.20

Also the bitmap quality is important too.

I hope that my beam is good because I've done some vector engravings and cuttings too and I also menaged almost good grade engravings.
But anyway were should I find those videos ???
I'm new to lasers so I'm new on this forum, and I have a problem in comunications with the company that sold me the machine.(a little introduction
I tried to find those videos but there is nothing in the videos page that I tried next to the "log out option".

    Thanks

First of all, if you're going to engrave photos a lot, get the Photograv Software, point. It will definitely pay off and save you a lot of time. If it's too expensive for you or you won't use it much, there is a free Photoshop Plug-in called "Gold Method". You can edit a photo for engraving even in Coreldraw.

Off course there are other aspects to consider. Besides the speed and power, there is the resolution of the image and dependent to that, the space between the lines while engraving. The material you are going to engrave will define many of the settings. The settings you use for acrylic won't be suitable for wood, vice versa.

Thank You for the answer and links.
So if You just can tell me what is with acc space. Is there a way to control this and how. I double click on the line and the window that opens has no acc space to set but there is only acc speed or something and is 25000 in my software.
    So ?

I don't know which software you use on your machine, but if it's LaserCut I can help you. Tomorrow when I go to work I'll take a look at it.

Here is a Image that shows what you have to do in LaserCut to Engrave.

Remember that you have to mirror the image and turn the colors to Black and White then to negative before you engrave on acrylic.

Here is a chart of scan gaps according to the resolution of the image to engrave.

Thank You a lot for the picture. I had done almost everything except turning a picture to negative. But I've tryed once trough the laser setup and it has no change. Anyway I will try to set that trough the photoshop or corel.
And one more thing: can I or should I put a bigger resolution in the scan gap option or not ?

Thank You anyway I'll try this in a few moments and I'll write here new situation. Let's hope it'll work.

So I tried a negative option and the scan gap 0.85 and it did it better photo but not quite good one. So I think it mignt be a quality of the bitmap. So I will try later with a different modification of the bitmap and I think I will get a photo like it should be. I've also tryed a smaller power and it has a difference but first I'll have to try with better bitmap.

Thank You to all of you and Turkish Delight specially for the documents shared with me.
