Hi there!

I am starting to build a laser cutting machine.
Already have the frames and all axis, now it's time to start with the Laser!

I know I know - safety first! I'm wearing eye-protective that fits the right wave-length and I'm the only one in the room.

Now to my questions - I can use a laser diode like this one:

Here's a movie I've found on Youtube -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGwleH913zs]Laser diode steel cutting.mp4 - YouTube (in the video it's a 60w diode, otherwise same connections/power supply).

My questions:

1. can I use a fiber-optic cable instead of 'flying optics'? will the fiber cable withstand thousands on thousands of flexing and flexing?
if not - where can I buy optics for this wave-length?

2. how do I actually drive the laser? I have a matching power supply, I know how to connect all the axis to mach3 / emc, but - how to connect the laser?
I know it uses pwm.

3. where can one buy safety glass/plexiglass for a specific wavelength?

Thank you!
