    Deep engraving in metal

I’m looking for a laser (under $20,000.00) for deep engraving in metal.

I saw a picture of a laser I would like to know more about. I could see T-300 on the side but I can find nothing with a search for T-300 laser. Anyone have any idea what laser this could be???

Looks like a scanning head machine Vader,

WK Laser do that kind of machine as do a number of other companies.

HERE is the page for WK with that kind of engraver on it.

No idea about prices, Tina,Melody or Lucy should be able to help.

    best wishes

    Dave

Thanks Dave. I know little about lasers my sons are working with epilogs at the TechShop.

I would really love to know just what type of laser this is and what the specs are because they are doing just what I would like to do. Here's a video from youtube with some more clues. There is a good shot about 32 seconds in.

That's a YAG laser of some sort. They are a lot more expensive than your typical CO2 engraver.

Yup,I'd agree, ND YAG without a doubt and I'd bet the 300 refers to the watts output.

Looks like the QL T-300 system at a glance but very hard to say. I did notice it used multiple passes on an AR receiver to get the depth too.

That's starting to get into silly money pricewise if it is indeed a YAG....

    best wishes

    Dave

Is there anything that will do that kind of engraving in the $15,000.00 range???

I've had nothing but trouble with my CNC mill and I'm looking for alternatives.

    Unlikely to be honest

The UK based seller RMI do the UM1 system for around £15,000 (nearly $22,000) and that only has a 100mm x 100mm working area and uses a 2 watt source.
A machine like the one sureshot is using is going to be in the $40,000 to $50,000 range at least if not more

    best wishes

    Vader

It will be hard to find a decent made machine for $15K that will have a decent amount of power for deep engraving. You would need a small field or a lot of power.

I have LeeLaser875MQ Laser that is setup for gun barrel marking. In our job shop we do barrels for Spikestactical, tacticalrifles.net, tactical weapons solutions, black forge.

Here is a video to the machine available.
