    Question G. Weike DSP upgrade?

Hi, been on a lurker for several years. Initially looked at building my own hobby CNC machine but that fell through due to time and money ...

Now I am looking at getting a large (4' x 8' cut/engrave area) rebranded G. Weike CNC laser for my employer. From what I understand, G. Weike already has a DSP controller board and LaserDraw is one of the better options compared to lower cost ones. Would there be an advantage (or is it even possible) to upgrade to another DSP such as the one by LightObject?

The main usage would be vector engraving, with raster engraving second and vector cutting third. Thanks in advance!

When you bought your machine? And pls tell me the Name of your Control Card. I think it is better to update.

    Abby,

    Did not buy it yet.

Was asking if it would be good to upgrade to other brand DSP controller card like LightObject after buying G. Weike CNC laser.

    Thanks.

    hi

if you want to change the Control system, you must change: Control Card,Dongle,Press Button Panel,The Software.

If there are no bad thing,i think you d better not to change them. Or if you have not buy the machine, you could ask us not give you these parts. Then the price will be low,and it is faster and better to install the new Control System by yourself.

Why do you want to change them?

I was looking for faster performance with accuracy for engraving, so that I would not need to purchase a lower power laser for a high quality result (was looking at 80W or 100W but am thinking that maybe need even lower). I have samples from a seller, but results seem to either be laser being too slow and power too high (even when laser power set to lowest setting), or laser movement too fast to engrave cleanly on acrylic.

There was some "pulsing" in the engraved line width for first samples. Next samples pulsing gone but engraving too deep.

    Hi,

I see your meaning now. But i dont know if it is better to use Lightobject. We never compare them...

i think you d better to make a sample by one machine with that control system.

And i think it is similar maybe ...

Have you get the price of Laser Machine from our company? Any questions, pls ftell me!

    FYI - The LightObject DSP
    • Does not require a Dongle
    • Has free software with it (LaserCAD)
    • Has it own control panel
    • Is stand alone - not needing dedicated connected computer

IF you have not already upgraded to something, then the LO DSP is (as it has always been) the best choice for the $.

Lol... I am also a long time lurker finally taking the plunge myself though...

I am in the final stages of reviewing g.weike for a 1612 with w2 90w reci and Ccd camera option.. And if I could find some info on the cnc routers maybe one of those (but jinan quick are hard to beat in that respect the forum has heaps of reviews etc)

I read somewhere on the forum LO DSP was being upgraded again to touchscreen preview etc.. In April-June and I was goin to wait for this but how true that is.... Anyone know?

But I too am still worried the g.weike won't handle photo engraving and will blur as they are still glass tubes and not rf... Anyone got a pic for us on there own machines?

That would be very helpful honeyabby!!!

Can you do one with cermark or metalmark also?

I think a test image with varied power levals like this but for photo engraving is what we need to really get an idea of the lasers capabilities?

I personally would like to go rf but $20k for a F100 is just too much at the moment?

Are g.weike goin to offer a fiber laser option like?

What model dsp do you guys use?

    Dear,

I really dont know what materil you want to engrave. Could you contact with me by emailabby@wklaser.com) or MSN(abbyli1@msn.cn) or Skype(abbylilu)?

And send me pic you want to engrave.

Second, if you want to engrave pic, maybe you do not need 100W RF laser tube. 30W is enough. We have one machine with RF 30W tube now. Enclosed pls find the pic samples.

Third, We use Lettro DSP Control System.

Forth,we dont have Fiber Laser Machine now.
