Milky Way etching, 2 part question.

I saw something really cool today, it is an etching of the Milky Way done inside a block of what looks like acrylic. The etching is in the middle of the block. Can that be done with a traditional laser, or does it require a special laser?

Part 2. Does anyone have, or know where I can purchase a good image of the Milky Way, or other universes as well, for etching purposes, even if they are only for 2D etching.

I think those are ND YAG lasers that will do the 3d engravings inside of crystal. Some of the ones I've seen are absolutely beautiful. Unfortunately our co2 lasers won't work for that.

Here is a link to some Hubble Space Telescope photos. Maybe there is something you can use there.

Edit: Sorry, those are low res photos. I'm looking for some hi res ones that would be better for engraving. Try searching for "hi res space photos".

I looked at Hi-res nasa photos, but the problem is there is so much other noise, and colors that won't show well in B&W. Something like this is what I want. Milky Way
