cutting acrylic issue on new amada laser

Just got a 2k amada and having issues cutting all size acrylics. This thing cuts like butter but the finish is NO WHERE near the high polish finish I get with my lower power lasers. Does anyone have any experience on tuning this thing? I have spent weeks trying along with the amada reps and even they cant find a setting that make me happy! Please let me know if anyone cuz acrylic with a powerful laser and gets high polish finish

What is the finish that you don't like, does the edge have striations or is it just frosted looking?

It may not be possible to run the laser at low enough power for the available speed of the XY axis, which means you won't get the 'flame polished' look.

it is just really foggy and not clear at all. I tuned down the laser to 200 watts but its actually cutting at 400-600 watts when I look at the screen. I am cutting at 20,30,40 speeds and 1000,2000 frequencys.....Any suggestions? I am cutting COLOR ACRYILICS BLUE, AMBER, GREEN....horrible finish. My lower power lasers are down and wont be fixed anytime soon...I need the amada to do the job. Any tricks?

Use the lowest power and highest speed possible, and then adjust frequency to compromise between striations and a clean finish.

You may also need to do a finish pass (removing a very small amount of material - just a couple of mils), at a higher frequency to produce the desired finish. Of course you could also just flame polish the edges - easiest and will give the absolute best resutls.

Another suggestion, if you have a different lens to try (shorter focal length) it may help - you want to be de-focused so the power is lower and the material has time to 'glass' over from heat rather than just vaporize and leave a fog. Increase the shielding gas too, hopefully you have an inert gas rather than just CDA.

    Zax.

Dunno about laser cutting but when I mill or turn acrylic I get a crap finish unless it's cast acrylic- is it extruded or cast?

    Maybe something to consider?
I love deadlines- I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.

The point is on the lower watt lasers i get a melting reaction which make s a polished flame edge it seems like i cant cut this stuff on the powerful one to get a nice flame polish....Any input on actual speeds, frequency, and power on this laser? SHould I provide picks and data maybe this will help!
