    Chinese laser

Several weeks ago, I bought a 60w 22" x 33" laser from Triumph Laser in China on Ebay for $4500. They advertised free shipping. The laser arrived today and I learned a lot about importing lasers.

I expected a lot of red tape and I was right. Ken at Triumph Laser was very helpful, but it was still a challenge. I had to make sure that the overseas freight company's office in the USA had the proper documentation for the 10+2 customs form, the bill of lading and invoice. They recommended a a customs broker who needed all these forms and his own customs power of attorney form. The shipper arranged to have the crate forwarded from New York City to Norfolk, VA and into a warehouse. Then I made arrangements thru freightcenter.com to pick up the crate from Norfolk via Wilson Trucking to here.

The "free shipping" refers to Triumph Laser being responsible for all charges getting it to New York only. Here are the additional shipping related expenses:

Shipping from New York to Norfolk $148.95
    Customs broker (includes duty) $303.13
Trucking from Norfolk to here $126.06
    Warehouse fee in Norfolk $108.85
    Total $686.99

I still feel good about my purchase at this point, but if you import a laser from China, you can expect this. And it all went well. If you drop the ball, there could be substantial fines for holding up a container.

That's more reason to buy it direct from a USA dealer.

We stock 60W lasers for $4995 and include autofocus and motorized Z table as well as include the air compressor and pump.

This ships from Las Vegas and arrives in 3-5 days with low cost shipping and no extra fees: http://www.fullspectrumengineering.c...aserv260w.html

We also provide all customers with optional direct print driver.

Can you print from MS Word and cut out letters? We can because we wrote the driver.

fullspeceng - you are from USA, but your marketing looks like Chinese. IMHO not necessary post your advertising in all posts.

I too purchased a laser from china and all went well. It came from Weike.I am a beginner in this field and now I wish I bought one with assistance in this country to get someone to come here and help me set it up .Im having alot of trouble trying to load the laser cut software , MPC6515 driver and laser cut 53. So far i had to buy a new computer with windows xp instead of windows 7 (was told window 7 would be fine). I keep getting a message saying windows cant access device , path or file. You may need appropiate permission to access the item....I really dont even know if driver loaded correctly. The company has been very helpful but it takes a long time with the time chnage to ask and answer. Anybody have any ideas what it could be.

    Les,

Yes, I have it running. Like you, started with no experience with Lasers. No help from anyone other than contact in China which has been both helpful and patient with me (though patients is also required from the buyer). Who is your contact with Weike?

    lrob,
My contact is Erica, She has been wonderful in finding answers but Im not sure what my questions are any more. I cant seem to make any headway. When I got the laser together and it said to power up, it moved the head to top right corner as was said, but when it said to press the laser button to "release the laser", I didnt see anything happen. Dont know if I was suppose to. Then I have not been able to load any software. No progress from there for a while. Im stuck.
