Here are some pics of the motor and the wires leading to it. I am assuming I can tap into and control this somehow but need a push in the right direction. The motor is called a DC brushless I thought but it looks to be AC 230V. Anyone mind explaining that one to me? ![]() ![]() Thanks, Tim |

| A DCBL motor resembles a 3 phase motor, which is basically what it is, except is has to have commutation pulses fed back, this is what SA, SB & SC appear to be. The control shows 1 phase in, the drive produces pulses for the 3 stator windings. To control it you have to identify the type of control input it is using, generally 0-10v analogue. Al.

| I see on the data plate that the "Mainsupply" is 230 V. Do the wires connected to SA, SB, SC, and the Red and Black go to the motor? If so then they are probably connected to hall effect sensors in the motor to determin armature position for the circuitry to switch on the correct phase (U, V, & W) of the motor at the correct time. How do you control the speed now? Or is it single speed? Steve |

| This is the same motor as the one in the SX3. The on/off and speed are controlled by the push buttons. Each push of a speed button either raises or lowers speed by 10 RPM. Right now there is no easy way to connect a speed control like you can on the X2 or X3 mills. I only know how to control start and stop, and that's all I have Mach3 doing mechanically through a relay. It would be posible to do the same thing for each speed button, and program simulated button pushes in G code to raise or lower speed. Quazar is developing a control board for this motor though: http://cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=94511 Maybe he will help us all solve it. CR.
