Can an OPTO22 G4 type relay be wired for both positive and negative logic? I have an enable signal coming from my controller that is Positive or TTL Active High at +5vdc when the motor is supposed to be on.. I need this signal to be low or, to wire to something that will reverse it. Al made mention in another thread of mine that some Opto relays can be configured either way.. Im just wondering which ones and if I have one that will work. Thanks for any advice. Murphy |

| I didnt do anything... There is no way for me to wire the ODC5R that I have for Active Low. I do not have a G4ODC5 or it might be possible. I have to open up the ICM2900 and replace the 7407 IC chip with a 7406. I am trying to find one.. I called 6 or 7 Radio Shack's and none have them.. (Metro Detroit version of DIY electronics stores) I called some TV Repair place that was recommended by the Radio Shack people and still no luck. Got on the bay and everyone wants 5 bucks to ship a $0.30 part. Tried other internet sources and they want the same and in some cases a min order amount. What I figured out was that I am screwed and there is nothing I can do about it except to keep looking... What I might be able to do is to use a small double throw relay but this idea is a less than desirable way of solving my problem. I wish someone here would say "HEY, I got dozens of these, what's your address!!" LOL Murphy |

| Murphy, as I wrote in another post, 10 pieces for $6.95 on ebay. No Radio Shack carries that part. They all stock the same stuff. Another ebayer sells for a little less. One ODC5 module costs almost double that. If you order today, you can have it installed monday. The extras are good if you blow the chip by drawing too much current. Total allowable current on the chip is 40ma. Probably not enough for one relay, let alone 3 or 4, depending on the number of axis you are driving. Try www.debco.com to buy individual chips. If you want a better price their ebay ID is "the-cases" Last edited by keithorr; 03-31-2005 at 11:50 AM. |
