I have a set of Microkinetics motors that are 4 wire input/output. I have the correct 6 volt power source for the motors that originally operated the motors though a Torch Mate controller.(old cnc cutting table) We have retired the cnc portion (old and outdated) of the cutting table as we have purchased a completely new cnc cutting table. I would like to change our old table into a straight line cutter utilizing the Y access only and operate the Y access through a potentiometer with a built in on /off switch. To control travel speed and power. Problem, I am not sure how to wire the 4 wire motor through the potentiometer and on to the 6V power source. Motor information, Microkinetics Corp. Model,23M80D. Voltage,6V. OHM,5. Torque 83 oz/in. Current,1.2A Thanks |

| If they are stepper motors, then you will need a stepper motor driver to operate them. Then you would need something (computer or pulse generator) to feed signals to the driver to make the motor step. If you are planing on just manual straight cuts, then you might try replacing the stepper motor with a variable speed DC motor (perhaps with reduction gear or belt) and control. Here is a link to a Dayton motor that comes with a controller http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/items/7Z581?Pid=search You might find someting cheaper on Ebay Steve |
