Convert three phase transformer to single phase?

I've got an ignorant question; can a three phase transformer be converted to run on single phase?

I was wondering if it could be done as follows:

As long as the transformer is wired in a Wye configuration, a person could tie lines A, B. & C together on the primary side creating three coils in parallel.

The three secondary coils would also be wired in parallel.

This would create a large current, single phase transformer.

Does this make any sense? How would a person calculate the output knowing the original specs?

I do not see any reason why i would not be possible and practical.

I would however connect the three secondary windings via three low voltage low wattage globes just to make sure there are no circulating currents under no load conditions.

The VA ( volt amp rating ) of the original transformer is what you can expect under single phase regime.

That would be light bulbs on the top side of the world.
