Is possible to create my own step board?

hey guys, i was reading and taking note abt all the stuff that i need to build my CNC machine. i found that i need an driver board to controlate the motors.
the question is if i need to buy an controller board (like 150-200 bucks) or is possible to build one myself?

i will get any advantage if i buy an board like xylotex ?

Thanks and hope you understand what im asking

ok, thanks looks like will be better to buy an driver board + steppers motors in USA, because is a little hard to get that parts here in argentina.

Btw, with motors/drivers can i buy?

i want to create an CNC to route and mill wood/fiber and the size will be 25 inches x 35 Inches.
