This is just a thread for comments on business during this recession. 1) How has the recession affected your sales/business ? 2) Whats your estimate when things will improve ? 3) What do you think the future for hobby cnc products is ? Personally i've seen a big drop in sales in the last 8 months compared to the last 2 years, both in cnc router sales and drives. The manufacturing industries seem to be hit the hardest. Most companies are still paying the bills, but not growing. The service industries are pretty recession proof like, auto repair, home improvements etc. I feel that by next fall, things will have improved and sorted them selves out a lot. I don't think being honest and talking about it is going to jinx anyone or reveal weakness. Larry K

| My business is fresh produce. it has not been affected at all by the recession. People still eat no matter what. Locally, the unemployment rate is far higher than the feds report. And we're still seeing a lot of folks not making house payments, etc. At some point there will be another round of foreclosures. IMHO, we're going to have a double dip recession. The second dip may or may not be bigger than the first. Folks will still buy hobby products. At least the employed people. The CNC hobby may be affected by the firesale prices in industrial machinery. Karl |
