*NEWBIE* Power Line filter (Transformer vs. Filter)

Hello guys. First time in this forum.

    I have simple question.
I am building 3 Axis CNC Stepper Drive/motor.
Current is about 5A each so total of 15A.
    I am using 3Phrase transformer 220V as a way to filter the main power (220V, 3P, 3KW = $150-200)

I have never use other Filter before, but I think it would be a lot cheaper?
More compact? Any advice which one to choose from? And is there downside compare to isolated transformer that I use?
    Thank you
    Jeff

Where do you intend using the filter?
A isolation transformer itself acts as a filter.

    Al..
    You are my man...
Thanks for another comment in different forum.

Since my circuit is quite simple. 3 Axis motor control, few limit switches, spindle inverter control.

I am thinking about putting the filter directly from R, S, T main power source right from the start... (Instead of using current setup Transformer).

But I have never used the filter unit before..
So not sure about the cost nor any other benefits.
    Any comments?
    Thank you
    Jeff

A 3 phase choke suppressor, If on R,S,T, this is usually the 3 phase supply or input to a VFD for e.g.
Some manufacturers recommend them on both VFD input and output, If I only use one, I usually put it on the UVW output to the 3 ph motor.
    Do you have 3 phase?
They are mainly intended to supress harmonics on the motor feed, and offer some buffer between motor and VFD.
Many hobbyists do not bother with them.

    Hi.
I have very good diagram. This is spindle Z unit by the way..
Why would you need to use Reactor in this case?
Reactor = smooth out motor running characteristic..
    but how does it work?
    Thanks.

Used on the input side, it is generally to stop switching noise getting back to the line side.
