Question Have Servos Need Driver... Help!

Hi All,

I'm new to the board and am very glad I found it! Great info and ideas.

I have some servo motors made by Hitachi with 200PPR encoders they are rated for 23 volts and a 13W output. Question is what do I have? what is the torq of these motors? what driver or amplifier do I use with these motors. I have the urge to convert my Mill Dill to CNC or build a CNC router are these motors capable of doing either or both of these?

Any help will be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Elalto

13 watts can't be right. Are you sure? 13 amps maybe? Is there any other info on the motors?

Eric

That is what is on the motor

Thanks for your response,

Yes the motor's label indicates "output 13 W" which appears to be 13 watts. There is no indication of the amperage on the lable. The motor is made by Hitachi but has a Kodak part number, any clues?

How large is it phisically? 13 watts is .017 Hp, keeping in mind that .01 is one onehundredth. It probably draws around .5 amps or so. I won't have much torque. Is there a part number?

Are you sure it isn't out of a laser printer or something??

You have any pics of one of them to post? It may help if you do.

Include a ruler or something in the pic to get a scale reference too.

These motors sound remarkably similar to the ones Anoel bought, just for the encoders. I seem to recall they were 13w output too. Did you get them on ebay?
