Total NOOB needs advice on retrofit

I have a Denford Orac lathe that i have gutted all of the electronics from. i plan to replace the electronics with the following

Controller: http://www.kelinginc.net/C11Manual.pdf

Drivers: http://www.kelinginc.net/KL-8060.pdf

Here are the specs on the motors that came with the Orac
http://www.denfordata.com/bb/download/file.php?id=355 the motors are the 0310 A8

I picked up a couple 70vdc/4amp power supplies from ebay, so i have that covered.

I plan to use a VFD to control the spindle.

So what am i missing here? can someone review this stuff and give me some input?

Thanx,

Adam

Do you know if there is a less costly board i could use? i dont really know or understand the difference between this one and just a basic BOB.

Adam,

You could use a C-10 however if has no VFD provisions.

If you would like to control the VFD with Mach3 there are other options such as a C6 variable speed control board.

Its not a all in one solution however it will save you a few dollars.

Adam,

The C-10 has five input pins 10,11,12,13,15.

Pin ten is recommended for the eStop that leaves four inputs for home and limit switches.

Adam,

The charge pump is a safety device that monitors Mach3, if Mach3 crashes or the computer stops running the charge pump relay will turn off whatever it is connected to.

Buy me a Beer?

Another name/method is a watchdog timer, I notice some BOB's use the W.D. method, it all depends on how the 12khz signal is used.
Some interpret it with a charge pump, some a timer.
With a WD, the 12khz signal keeps reseting the timer before it has chance to time out, if the signal disappears the timer timer times out and picks up a relay in the E-stop string.

Thanx Al, i will check that out as well, so far my money savings has been great through ebay.. i just picked up 2 gecko 203v's for $160 total shipped! so that on top of $80 for my two 70vdc power supplies, im at $240 for gecko drivers and decent power supplies!

now all i need is a BOB and i can get some steppers moving!

My end result will be a mach3 controlled lathe with a VFD controlled spindle. Will it be worth it for me to pay $125 for the full c11 board or just get the c10 and add to it later?
