Hi, I'm new to the diy scene and I want to try my hand at building my own CNC machine. I want to buy a multi meter for this project, installing a car audio system, and future diy projects. I have no idea about which ones would be good besides the fact that Fluke one are the best. But, they are very expensive and I was looking to spend around $50-$75. I've looked all over the internet for help figuring out what to look for in a multi meter or which model would be good for me. Any help would be great. Thanks |

| The first thing to decide is what kind of measurement you will be taking and also the ranges you will need, for example, some meters are geared for automotive work. An electrician may look for 1000AC/DC volts. How high current etc?. Some of the cheaper ones do not have protection, if you inadvertently use them on the wrong range you can blow them. Also Manufacturers like Fluke offer parts replacement etc. You can often pick up a deal on Fluke on eBay. Al.
