I have a Jet GHB1340A gear head lathe. All of the sudden I'm having a hard time with the motor starting. When I switch the motor on it starts us MUCH slower than usual acting as if power is being applied slowly. It takes the spindle about 5 to 6 seconds to come up to speed with it in the low gear range. If I put it in high gear range it exhibits the same behavior but never gets up to speed before blowing the main electrical breaker. Is this a starting capcitor issue? Something else? |

| If this is a split phase AC motor then you could try a start capacitor, if this is a made in R.O.C. motor they are notorious for failed capacitor or start switch. Any thing more serious such as start windings shot, I would look at fitting a motor from another source. Al.
