Universal motors (Dremel, routers...)

From my surfing I have read that a PC router or Dremel uses a Universal Motor. As well I read a universal motor will run quieter, cooler from rectified AC line voltages(~90VDC). My goal is to use my new PC router with Mach3 and have the software control the RPM or the router. Does anyone know of a schematic or maybe a company that sells such a beast?
Thanks for the help!

Buy me a Beer?

You most likely can run them off a SCR drive such as KB or Baldor Mains operated DC control , although I have never tried it, it would be interesting to know.
You can get the open frame KB/Baldor much cheaper without the case switch and Pot, and build it in to your own cabinet.
You can feed one of the PWM to analogue converters on a BOB to control it instead of a pot.

I remember all the motors I salvaged and just maybe I can find a stand-alone spindle that I can use one of these motors with. I have found some pages on DIY spindles but I almost need a mill/lathe to make one. I also have numerous pulleys of different sizes some with teeth and some without.

1 of these
Globe Motors
537A250
Volts: 30.3
With encoder: HP HEDS-5505-G06.
Pin 1 - Gnd
Pin 2 - NC
Pin 3 - ChA
Pin 4 - Vcc (+5 VDC)
Pin 5 - ChB

The motor has a no-load speed of 3220 rpm @ 30 VDC
The motor has a no-load current draw of 0.25 amps
At 20 oz-in the motor runs at 2840 rpm and draws 1.95 amps

Came out of the same model of machine as the Globe above so I assume it has the same specs.

Very specialized motors but I did find a web site where a fella had one working.

No other writing on it but I measured the physical dimensions and it is most likely the 001model.

I have seen similar motors used on spindles. cnconabudget and Wolfgang

I will probably end up using my 9690LR Porter Cable but I would rather leave it in the router table and use something else. For the moment all I need is 1/8 bits for doing PCBs and once I get a few designs made I will look at some wood projects.
And I ao have a Dremel...
