Hi everyone, I just ordered a Xylotex 4-axis Uipolar board kit which needs to be assembled. Could someone please tell me what kind of solder is ideal. Is there any special solder needed for a PCB, or will normal electrical solder from my local hardware shop (B&Q...) work? Thanks Warren |

| Make sure it is Standard 60/40 (that is the mix of tin and led although I don't know which one is which off the top of my head) solder Diameter 0.032" Thicker then that is harder to work with for small solder joints. Also a good solder iron with a small tip helps. I prefer conical tips (very small round point tips) vs screw driver tips but I do a lot of soldering. For years I used a weller iron with out one of those coil holders. After getting one I coulden't believe how much easier having an actual iron holder was. Also having a good small vice helpes a lot. I have a small one with plastic jaws. But the point is if your solder is 50/50 or some other ratio it is not good for electronics. Course you are in the UK else I'd say just head down to your local radio shack. www.watchdogflyball.com b/ |

| Warren I'm quite sure you understand this but for others who may be browsing... be sure your solder is Rosin fluxed, not acid fluxed. Most of the solders you'll find at home improvement stores, unless they are specifically for electronics, will be acid fluxed. They are used for plumbing and mechanical connections. |
