Dear all, I need your help to make the stepper motor controller for a laser cutting machine work again. The unit is maarked as "Unite commande moteur 200" and the product type is ELA 61. The unit apears to be manufactured by Lectra Systemes quite a time ago. The controllers for the two stepper motors are made with TTL logic gates and discrete transistors. I was told that the hardware is working but I don't have any technical specs for this equipment. My immediate concern is the pinout of the connector on the back side of the unit, the one that receives the signals from the computer. Does anyone have a clue on that? Thanks in advance, Dan Stroie

Hi Dan, FWIW,,,I believe I have a similar unit...from an old fabric layout/cutting machine. Mine seemed to have 2 servo drivers (for the gantry) and 1 driver for the stepper ( can't remember what it was for )The closest I was able to find was a sight somewhere on the US east coast ( Carolina )? Lectra North American headquaters. Never did try to contact them as the machine was sooooo old. If you run into anything on this machine I would appreciate it if you would let me know.TTYL Dave

Hello Dave, Thanks for your input. Unfortunatelly, my device is different. It is made for two stepper motors. The combinational logic is with TTL ICs. Everything is optical isolated on the PC connection. 7 inputs to the controller and one output from the controller to the PC. I identified the four pins that deal with the stepper motors by looking to the PCB. There may be two direction signals and two step signals. As everything goes into logical gates I will try combinations between the step and dir signals from the PC to see what happens. This is scheduled for the next week. I'll place the outcome of this on the forum. Best regards, Dan
