Now that I have my drivers working. I need to build an enclosure to mount the electronics in. From an electrical noise point of view, would I be better off mounting the breakout + driver boards in a seperate elclosure to the toroidal transformer? Or is this not really an issue? I'd rather have only one enclosure, but if two seperate ones would be better, then I'll make two. Any input greatfully received. Thx. Regards Terry..... |

| I would think you will be OK with one enclosure, toroids characteristically are low in radiated magnet fields. A good common point ground is important, as well as NOT to daisy chain the DC supply to drives etc, rather to take conductors to each drive independantly from the power supply. Al

| How far back sholud I go with the common ground. ( to the 0V ouput of rectifier? ). If so, I'd like to connect that to a copper block tapped with holes to accept any other ground wires. Does this sound ok. I assume I also connect the 0v of the +5v logic supply to the same ground point as the toroid ground? Thanks Regards Terry..... |

| Terry, With power supplies, it is best to ground the DC common as close as possible to the source, a copper bussbar for ground is a good idea. I personally tie ALL power supply commons to this point. Including any multi-conductor shields. Also the incoming supply ground conductor should be connected to the bussbar as well as the PC power supply common if a PC is used. Al
