I have a Gecko g540 and i want to wire 2 limit switches on my x and y axis and 1 on my z axis for safety on my diy cnc router. I would also like to use 3 of those same switches for homing switches in mach3. I was going to wire each axis in series NC but how do I wire the ones that i want to use for homing also? Do I use both the NC and NO terminals on the switch? If so how does it connect to the Geckodrive. |

| I am not sure how the 540 deals with limit switches vs home switches, but Mach 3 is perfectly happy to use a limit switch as a home switch. With the other BOB's that I have used, you would connect both limit switches on an axis as NC in series and connect that string to ground and one of the axis switch inputs. Each axis would have its own switch(es). Go into Mach and configure the switch input port bits and polarity to match with the axis you have set up. I think Mach has a setup box to tell it to use the limit switch as a home switch. It is pretty transparent and does not need extra wiring to deal with limit and home switches. If Mach is expecting to see a switch transition, it uses it as a home switch and doesn't get unhappy. BobH |
