need help with cooling fan please

I want to add a cooling fan(s) to my gecko 201's but I just realized I have no idea how or where to connect them.
What voltage do they take?
I have campbells BOB if that matters.
Thanks, John

Cooling fans

Hi John,
The fan voltage all depends on what fans you have and not what you are trying to cool.
A lot of us use fans taken out of dead computers and computer power supplies, which are either 12v or some of the smaller ones might be 5v. The voltage rating is usually on the fan. If you don't have any fans lying around and have to go buy some, consider ones that use a voltage already available inside your cabinet, so you don't have to add another power supply.

I had a 220vac fan in the parts pile and since my control box is full of 220vac circuits, it was dead simple to install.

Mike

You can run those computer fans with a "wall wart" AC adapter. The 12 volt fans will run rather good on as little as 8-9 volts DC.

I head to my local Salvation Army thrift store when looking for them. They sell for $.50-$1.00 each there.

On a side note, anytime I throw away a device powered by a wall wart, I put it in a box in the workshop. It is amazing how many times I have been able to use them for something other than what they were originally supplied for.

John, it is good to know that the 12v comp fans will run on less than 12v.
