To all interested, I am building a CNC plasma cutter...I have a joystick (analog) and am told you need a (keyboard)buffer to couple it to the computer, I assume the buffer is assembled and has a USB cable to connect to the computer. I am needing to be pointed in the right direction to find these buffers and learn exactly how they work. I have also considered using a standard computer joystick but really like the analog I have. Another question that crossed my mind is that the joystick port on my computer might already have the "command buffer" I was told about and I only need to find the right pin assignment on my port for my x/y axis. Any help would be very much appreciated... -Jimstoybox

This page might be of interest to you. http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/emc...ur_CNC_Machine Not sure why you would want to "buffer" the movements... Steve

I think he is talking about something which will take digital inputs, like switches, and convert them to buttonpress signals to work with mach. I have heard of something like this in the mach forum for digital inputs. Like jogging in whatever direction. I am not aware of anything which will read in an analog voltage and move the axes at a proportional speed. Matt
