as the title describes my gecko 540 and keling motors heat up rapidly after shutdown.the power supply consists of a fullbridge type circuit with extra large 8200uf 100v capacitor, 35a bridge rec and 500va `48v 12a toroidial that i've voltage modified i"m assuming its the capacitor as i had a bit of trouble with it discharging after a power up in the testing stages(it fused my pliers to the two terminals) i since learnt that one uses a light globe or 5w 22k resistor to safely discharge do you think the 540 is blown or does it simply allow the capacitor current to heat up the motor. |

| Looking at the manual... for the 540... "CAUTION: Do not switch the DC supply voltage ON/OFF to the G540 or it will be damaged. Switch the AC side of the power supply for ON/OFF." Just a guess, but the output circuit of the 540 uses depletion mode FET's. When you remove the control to them, they turn on. Steve |
